Yes, it either hits you straight away - or you spend ages not remembering who it is.
I still chuckle every time I see a picture of Derek or father Ken, just thinking of that cartwheel that Ken tried to perform after Derek ran his first 9 on a bike. You had to be there to see it. :)

That was good timing Phil. I was just having a look at the pictures when you replied.
The AJS I remembered, but not the rider's name.

In order, where known, they are:

The AJS of Dave Lowe.

Danny Johnson in 1973

Not sure about the next Harley, as I have no idea on the year. Is it an early Bartrum Harley, as both brothers did ride Harleys? The frame just does not look right though.

The next one is Chris Bartrum's 500 Norton

Pegasus

Final one has to be Norman Hyde and his Roadrunner.
you can see my old man sitting between the two cars with Norman wearing his hat to the left in front of the cars on the Roadrunner picture

OK - I give up.
You've beaten me on that one Phil.
I expect you know who the skinny kid is on the street Kawasaki - but it doesn't look like anyone I know.
Bet it made a fearful racket!
Wonder if he ever graduated to a proper bike?
Well i am told thats the only streetbike rider from the old 70s class that was still riding in 2008 in the ACU superstreet class. And has a couple of Great bikes now....... 8) Of course i know a street class rider from the mid 70s who now rides a Harley fuel bike on occasion . What i find great about straightline sport is how many are still around and doing the doing still. Off course we now have Mr Armes amongst us as well... Long may it continue. Keep em coming Jerry i heard you had another collection of pics to put up.

Here you go. Three from Long Marston in the seventies. The last was taken from a Mini Pick-up truck used as a buffer so that the bikes could perform startic burnouts. Any ID's lads.

OK Jerry, who got a wide angle lens for Christmas then? :D
This one is too much for my eyesight - and no I cannot name anyone in the crowd either, before you ask!

Still can't work out who that street bike rider was Phil.

It's a pity I can't name the rider in the photo but in the background of the second photo standing by the tractor is Keith and Frances Parker. I think this threads going to run for a long time.
