Evening all, I've had a scout about and scanned in some old photos that my ol' man (Keith Brown) had.

1st lot are from when they set up Long Marston, putting Armco up etc
2nd lot are from Holland I think?

Any way hope you enjoy. If any of you knew me dad get in touch and I can pass on info.

My ol' man loved his drag racing, always telling stories about Wiggy etc.

Enjoy (feel free to post in other posts if feel more relevant)

Is Mick Moore & Barry Youngs ..Pro Comp Slingshot..."Desparado" 8)
Yes that certainly is Baz Young's Desperado Pro Comp Dragster, and it looks like Ollie Burn leaning on the torque wrench as well. Can't see Mickey Moore in the picture but he was involved with the team. This shot must have been taken towards the end of the seventies when the NDRC Midlands ran 1/8th mile drag racing on the strip we have now. My guess is that Baz was contesting a round of the Midlands club John Brown Wheels Pro Comp Championship in 1978/79.

Rossi, the last time I saw your dad was when he stopped by the raceway office 2 or 3 years ago to have a look round the old place. He was doing some work up at the old army depot just up the road. These are great photos and I would like to include them in my Facebook album if I may. I will post a link up to all Facebook users shortly. My dad (Gerry Cookson) knew your dad from the old days of Santa Pod and the break away NDRC events. So please pass on our regards. And yes we would like to see some more scans/photos from the good old days of Long Marston.

This shot of Liam Churchill burning out in the Euro Sting Funny Car is pictured from the top end of the runway which now serves as our shutdown strip. You can see the different grades of tarmac used to build the runway in 1940 and you can still see this now in the surface.

Glad you like these. He dug them out a while back and I google searched classic british drag racing or something similar and got this site. I had a look through the pics and thought they would fit in so posted up. Cracking forum btw, will get the ol' man round and show him. Mentioned to him about the Drastalgia even at the Pod next weekend so hopefully we'll get along as it looks really good. Being down the road it'd be a shame not to!
